Routines that survive a busy week
Routines break in exactly the week that matters. When they do, it's the routine that's wrong, not the week.
A routine that only works in a calm week isn't a routine. It's a fair-weather plan.
Separate every day from every week
What has to happen every day should take minutes, not quarter-hours. What takes time belongs on a fixed weekday where there's room for it.
Let something be allowed to slip
Decide in advance which two chores drop in a busy week. Then it's a choice you've made, not a failure that happens to you.
Repeat without repeating yourself
A chore can be given a cooldown, so it reappears on its own when it's due. Then no one has to remember to add it again.
Make the list visible where it applies
A list no one sees is a list no one does. Kept in view where the chores happen, no one has to ask what's left.
