Privacy policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Applies to the TaskHamster Privat and TaskHamster Business apps on Android and iOS, and the web service they connect to.
Data controller: Aplia AS, organisation number 998 850 371, Bruene 1, 3724 Skien, Norway. Contact: support@taskhamster.no.
What we collect
Account and household. First name or nickname, email address and username of the person who creates the account. Names or nicknames of the other household members, as entered by the adult. The tasks you create, who completes them, points and hamster coins, and the choices you make in the wardrobe.
Messages. Messages you send to each other within the household. Conversations are stored in the household's own database schema and cannot reach other households.
Your device. For the app to work, it registers your device with us using a device identifier and device model. While the app is in use, it regularly (about every 30 seconds) sends technical information: battery level and charging status, how long the device has been on, IP address, Wi-Fi signal strength, app version, operating system version, selected colour theme and which page of the app is shown. This is used to show you the right content and for troubleshooting.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a notification token (push token) from Google or Apple so that we can notify you about new tasks and messages.
Purchases. The TaskHamster Privat subscription is purchased through Google Play or the App Store. The store handles the payment; we never see your card number. We receive confirmation that the subscription is active, an identifier for the purchase, and a random code the app created to link the purchase to your household.
We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or content from other apps.
Cookies on the web service
The web service uses necessary cookies for login and security: a session cookie that keeps you logged in (up to one year on the same device) and a cookie that protects forms against forgery. They cannot be opted out of without login ceasing to work. The apps do not use cookies. The business registration form on the website additionally uses a Meta pixel (Facebook) for marketing statistics; Meta may then set cookies in your browser. The pixel is not used in the apps or in the logged-in service.
What we use the information for
- To deliver the service: show tasks, points, rewards and messages to the right people.
- To send you notifications you have asked for.
- To keep your subscription active and renew it.
- To find and fix bugs in the app.
- To reply when you contact us.
We do not use the information for marketing, profiling or advertising. The apps contain no ads, and we do not sell information.
Legal basis
We process the information because it is necessary to fulfil the agreement for the service (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Notifications are based on your consent (point (a)), which you can withdraw at any time in the device settings. Troubleshooting is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the service stable (point (f)).
Children and young people
TaskHamster Privat is made for the whole household, and children use the app together with the adults.
An adult creates the account. A household is set up by an adult, who also creates the children's profiles. Children do not register themselves, have no login or email address of their own, and cannot buy anything in the app. The profile is created without a password and without an email address, with a generated username.
What we store about a child. The first name or nickname the adult has chosen, which tasks the child has completed, points and hamster coins, and what the child has chosen in the wardrobe. We never ask children for an email address, phone number, address or a picture of themselves.
We never market to children. Information about children is used only to make the app work.
Messages stay within the household. Children can only exchange messages with other members of their own household.
Consent. In Norway, children aged 13 and over can consent to such services themselves. For children under 13, the adult in the household consents on the child's behalf and can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the child's profile.
Who we share with
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (APNs) to deliver notifications. They receive the notification token and the content of the notification.
- Google Play and App Store for purchases and subscriptions.
- Microsoft Azure, which hosts our servers in the EU/EEA.
- Sentry for error reports from the servers. Error reporting is only enabled where it is configured, and does not send personal data by default. The apps themselves do not send error reports to third parties.
We do not transfer information out of the EU/EEA beyond what these providers do under their own agreements.
Storage and security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Data is stored encrypted. We keep the information for as long as the household or business has an active account. What happens when you delete the account, and how long things are kept, is described in the section “Deletion and your rights” below.
Deletion and your rights
You can delete your TaskHamster account yourself: choose “Manage account / Delete account” on the login screen in the app and confirm with your password. The deletion is scheduled 30 days ahead. If you change your mind, log in before that date and confirm that you want to keep the account, and the deletion is cancelled. If you own a household or business, you must first transfer ownership to another adult or ask us to delete the entire household or business.
When the 30 days have passed, this happens automatically: the login is permanently deactivated, and name, username, email address and password are removed. Your memberships, open invitations, avatar choices, level and experience points are deleted, and devices registered for notifications are disconnected from the account. Completed tasks, point and coin history, achievements, wardrobe purchases, contributions to shared goals and messages you have sent are kept for the household or business without any link to you, so that statistics and conversations for the others are not broken.
Messages you have deleted yourself are permanently removed from our servers after 30 days, together with images you sent in them. The exception is messages that have been reported to an administrator: an encrypted copy is kept as documentation for the report and is deleted together with the household or business. The subscription records from the App Store and Google Play belong to the household or business, contain no payment card information, and are deleted together with it.
Child profiles have no login of their own. The owner of the household can remove a profile at any time under “Users” in the administration in the app. The profile loses access immediately, and completed tasks and points are kept in the household's history. If you also want the name of the profile removed, contact us at support@taskhamster.no.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to object to the processing. Contact us at support@taskhamster.no. You can also lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
